The French Connection

Fairview is the only surviving French Great House in St Kitts. This stunning property was built by a French commander at the end of the 17th century.

Fairview Great House has had a variety of owners including French, Irish, Scottish, English, Portuguese, Spanish, American and West Indian owners at various times. The most recent of these owners is Mr. Krishan (Kishu) Chandiramani (2008 – present).

In recent memory, Fairview was a genuinely West Indian hotel – a family affair, as at home entertaining English royalty as St. Kitts’ revellers on New Year’s Eve Night.

The Great house illustrates the turbulent history of struggle for control of the island. The walls ooze with history as they show how control of the island changed hands. From French design to 17th century English artefacts this plantation features character and paints a picture of how people really lived back then.
